HSE success with Ridgewood on block 12/17b

ADTI on behalf of Lundin Heather Ltd drilled the Ridgewood well in block 12/17b on a Turnkey contract using the Transocean Galaxy II jack up drilling rig. The well situated in the environmentally sensitive Inner Moray Firth which was 25km from the Caithness coastline in 203ft of water.

The objectives of the well were to evaluate a tilted fault block, with the primary target being the Sand of Volgian age and the secondary target being the Beatrice Sand. Due to the absence of commercial oil shows in the primary sands, Lundin decided to P&A at the shallow depth.

A total of 7 (seven) hours were attributed to NPT which was less than 1% of the total well duration. A high level of HSE commitment was also demonstrated by the rig crew and all 3rd parties who worked on the well. As a result of the commitment to health, safety and environmental management demonstrated by the rig crew and 3rd parties’, No accidents, incidents or environmental issues occurred during the 12/17b-1 well.

There was a high level of participation in both the Focus and ASA programmes from the Galaxy II crews and the third party personnel. All operations performed on the Galaxy II were performed in strict adherence to the specific Job Risk Assessments (JRA’s), relevant Toolbox talks and the regular use of Time out for Safety (TOFS)

During the 24,096 offshore man hours worked on the well there were –
